Find out about Baptism (sometime called Christening) at S Helen’s.
Preparation for Confirmation is unusually completed both in school and in church when required. Contact the Rector for more information.
Children and Young People are always welcome at S Helen’s. Parents of young children may find this leaflet produced by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds helpful.
Children’s Liturgy is designed to present the Liturgy of the Word (the scripture readings at Mass) for children. At the 9.45am Sunday Mass, the Children are taken into the Sacristy after the introduction to the Mass. Parents of young children are welcome too. They re-join their families in church at the Preparation of the Altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. We are an accredited ‘Learning Destination’ for the Children’s University so children can get their Passport to Learning stamped which helps them to accumulate hours needed for the award of National Certificates and ultimately a graduation ceremony.
Each year young people from our parish take part in the Walsingham Children’s Pilgrimage and the Walsingham Youth Pilgrimage.
St Helen’s CofE Primary School is a very important part of our parish family.
Many of our young people are members of our large team of Altar Servers.
Safegaurding
The Parish takes very seriously its obligation to safeguard children and vulnerable adults. We adopt the Policy and Procedures of the Church of England to ensure so far as is possible that all those working with children and vulnerable adults have no background which would render them unsuitable or unsafe to take on such roles.
