On 19 January our school received a Statutory Section 48 Inspection (known as SIAMS – Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools). A process to evaluate the extent to which a school is a “distinctively and recognisably Christian institution”.
The inspector concluded that St Helen’s CE Primary School is a good Church of England School, giving a good judgement for all areas that were inspected: Ethos, Worship, Religious Education, Leadership and Management. She recognised that “the school is underpinned with Christian values such as trust, hope and forgiveness and coupled with the school’s close links with the church these ensure children and their families are nurtured and supported in a caring environment where children can learn.” She also noted that “children’s attitudes to learning are more positive and enthusiastic. Most children are now making expected progress and some make better than expected progress with standards close to national averages.”
The inspection commended the partnership working between church and school, the school leadership and the governance. Do read the full report here.
This is a fantastic achievement and a recognition of all effort which has been put in – thank you to all who work so hard to make our Church school a Good Church school.
