Sacrament of Penance – Confession

To be able to live a profitable celebration of Easter, the Church asks the faithful to draw near these days to the sacrament of penance, which is a kind of death and resurrection for each one of us.  It offers us the possibility to begin our life again and this new beginning is realized in the joy of the Risen One and in the communion of forgiveness that it gives us. Accordingly there are extra opportunities in our Holy Week programme when Fr Robert and Fr Tony will be available to hear confessions or to have confidential conversations about spiritual matters.  They will also be available after each of the principle Holy Week Liturgies.  The Sacrament of Penance is a wonderful opportunity to focus on the Lord and His immense love for us and on our need for that love.  In that love we find healing and forgiveness and therefore everyone is encouraged to make use of this sacrament.  If you have not been to confession before please do not worry.  Fr Robert or Fr Tony will willingly help you.  If you used to make your confession but have lapsed from this particular Sacrament please return, it will bring rejoicing to the Holy Angels and joy to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.  A good ‘rule’ to have is “Easter Confession then Easter Communion”.  If you are not able to use one of the times given then please make an appointment with Fr Robert (Tel: 01977 610507)
